Wot, no tax?
You are not charged any tax on income from student-hosting. You can earn £7,500 per year tax free, so the amount that you receive will be all yours. Full details are available by visiting https://www.gov.uk/
The income is guaranteed. You can do student-hosting all year round and you have flexibility; if you want it long term or if you only want to do student-hosting for a couple of weeks in the year.
Becoming a student-hosting family for Children In Britain is very simple. You’re in control, obviously. You decide who stays in your home and when. You can contact our students before they arrive so that you can get to know each other.
Start by filling -in our enquiry form and sending it to us. We’ll visit you to explain tax free student-hosting and make sure that it’s right for you and your home. Once you start hosting our students, you will meet lots of other student-hosting families in the area, get advice from them or simply make new friends.
What our students are looking for is an authentic family life experience and, above all, the opportunity to practice their English in everyday situations. You will be helping them to build confidence and fluency in a supportive environment.
You don’t need any teaching skills. All you need to offer is accommodation, home-cooked dinners, and lots of friendly support with your student’s English conversation skills. Student-hosting families love what they do.
Watching a child guest grow in confidence to become a new member of the family with improved English skills can be highly rewarding, creating memories that last well beyond the duration of the stay. It goes far beyond the extra income.
